Internationally celebrated on February 17th, also nicknamed RAK Day. This day is becoming more popular each year as acts of kindness help make the world a happier and better place. This day encourages random acts of kindness, which can become a chain reaction.
Why do we need more random acts of kindness?
In this world, we are living even small acts of kindness can mean “everything”. Often a simple smile can make somebody’s day, and it doesn’t cost a thing. Kindness promotes positivity. We feel better about ourselves, and the recipients will feel better too, and that can make them more likely to be kind to you and to other people. Being kind really does improve our well-being.
Where to start?
*Call or write to a friend that you haven’t been in touch for a while
*Reach out to spend time with a friend, family member, or neighbor who is experiencing loneliness
*Offer to babysit for a friend, walk your friends’ dog
*Tell your family how much you love and appreciate them
*Help with household chores
*Check-in with someone who you know is having a hard time
*Help a friend who wants to get active
*Say Hi! to your colleagues and ask how they are
*Give up your seat to an elderly, disabled, or pregnant person
*Be a considerate driver, biker, or cyclist
*Pick up some rubbish lying around in the street
*Smile and say Hello! to people you may pass every day but have never spoken to before
*If you are doing some clear out, try to donate
Don’t forget it is crucial to be kind also to yourself.
*Try to find a time for self-care
*Try to have some “me” time, so you can relax and do something you enjoy
*Spend some time in nature
*Treat yourself with something small like flowers, or deliciously smelling wax melts
How to be kind, Vita Canis style?
Vita Canis Style to Rescue is an innovative way of supporting rescue organisations and helping rescues find their new forever homes. It is a charity dog grooming competition.
Its core purpose is threefold:
- Give rescue dogs a much-deserved makeover
- Raise rescue dog’s chances of being seen and rehomed
- And of course, raise money for the wonderful people who tirelessly run the rescue centres
