Somebody asked me the other day, what is it about essential oils that I like? And why did I choose to work with them?
I don’t even remember when I hear of essential oils for the first time. I think it was back when I lived in Slovakia, and we occasionally used tea tree oil for its antibacterial properties. For example, on an insect bite or after we removed a tick, I even used it on my acne. Little did I know how to choose good quality oil ( I think there was not much choice anyway) and safe use. Later we used lavender as well for the same antibacterial properties. I think my mum got us the first bottle from France.
I started to learn more about essential oils when my Kerry Blue Kimi had her second litter, and she wouldn’t eat well, had diarrhoea, and wasn’t herself. That time, I learned about raw feeding, natural supplements, and the benefits of essential oils. The door to holistic dog care opened to me!
Essential oils fascinate me on many levels.
It’s not just a beautiful aroma of many of them, but also their chemistry. And recently, their spirituality.
So what are essential oils?
Simply put, they are plant essences. They are made by secretory cells of some plants. These cells use photo-electro-magnetic energy from the Sun. With the help of plant enzymes, these cells convert it to biochemical energy in the form of a wide range of aromatic molecules.
Fascinating, isn’t it?
Some say that essential oils are the heart and soul of a plant. You don’t have to agree but think about it. They deter some insects from eating a plant, and on the other hand, attract pollinating insects.
In the spiritual contest, essential oils are the life force or the energy of a plant. And I have been thinking of them on a spiritual level in recent months. And it feels a new door opened to me.
Here are a few examples:
Lavender can help you to reach deeper states of meditation.
Neroli can enhance your creativity.
Petitgrain can activate intellectual aspects of your mind.
Basil will lift your spirits if you are mentally or physically exhausted.
Why am I mentioning these few oils?
They are a part of the blend we use in our Calming Wax Melts. Next time you meditate, put a cube in your oil burner and enjoy as I do.
